For the Swing Bike Riders there are always cool places to go check out.  This section is dedicated to all those places and people who have welcomed us to their local events.

KSR Port Townsend 2006

We had a lot of fun this year at the Kinetic Sculpture Racing in Port Townsend.  Lots of people cheering and screaming for their favorites, the weather was perfect, we had sun, and it wasn't windy.  This year's theme was "Follywood", Hollywood inspired folly.  We had six Swing Bikes and riders, plus Raven from Port Townsend who was riding his orange swinger.   This year it was Angie's turn to get "fined" by the Kinetik Kops, for "harboring a (kinetik) chicken"...That was hilarious, and I teased her saying that she was "fondling the chicken" instead :-O .   Another funny note, Laura, from the Bounce for Glory team got a fine  for her "killer thighs" while racing on the sand dune.  We definately had a lot of fun, and can't wait till the next KSR.

Woo Hoo! Tour de Fat 2006 Pics Here!

TDF Seattle2006     Yeah! Great shows, great bikes and of course, great beer! It doesn't get any better.  We had so much fun in Seattle, that we are going to follow Tour de Fat to Portland, OR, this Saturday august 19th.  It was great to find two home built Swing Bikes in this festival.  Kudos to March Fourth Marching Band and the Yard Dogs Road Show, their acts were awesome! Serious thumbs up to Drums & Tuba, you guys are a trip, and I have to get more of your music!

I tried out for the dance contest, I didn't make it to the final, but my dance partner and I got free beer just because we tried! (Fat Tire for me, please) There were a lot of cool-weird looking bikes.  Shep got to ride some of them, I didn't really try because earlier in the parade I suffered a wardrobe malfunction (no, I didn't show skin), one of the veils from my costume got caught in the rear wheel chain, and I didn't want to "repeat" the incident. But I will give it a shot next time in Portland, that's for sure!  Enough said, here are the pics:

Tour De Fat 2006 Portland

TDF Portland 2006It was a lot of fun! So many cool bikes, and so many cool people, Shep's mouth ran dry on that hot Saturday afternoon, I think he wishes he could split in two or three... he could not stop talking! When it comes to Swing Bikes, or just bikes in general he always has something to say. We met Melissa, a true Swing Bike Chick, she likes to build Swing Bikes and she brought her own home built red swinger to the festival.  It was cool that we got to see Laura, she brought two of Peter Wagner's whymcycles all the way from California, and of course, they drew some attention: we could hear the "oh!'s" and "ah!'s" from people watching the parade.  Which, by the way, was way longer than the one in Seattle...oh I got left behind, what a shame!   Five or six miles of up and down hill, my poor knees couldn't handle that... In the end I didn't feel all left out,  Shep was waiting for me and we found Laura on her whymcycle lost on the way back to the park.  The shows were great, March Fourth, the Yard Dogs, and I was waiting for the Drums & Tuba guys, who of course exceeded my expectations (thank you guys!).

We all had a great time, and we cannot wait till next year's Tour de Fat!

KSR/Da Vinci Days 2006

The Kinetic Sculpture Race at the Da Vinci Days Festival 2006 rocked! This has been a very fun weekend.  We managed to have nine of our own Swing Bikes in the same place this year, plus a tenth orange Swinger whose owner, Raven, came from Port Townsend with the Magic Bus crew.  Keep on swingin', Raven!
